What would you consider your strengths?
Work ethic, mental toughness and lifting (explosive strength).
What would you consider your weaknesses?
Running mechanics.
What is your present emphasis in training?
Running mechanics, speed, strength (Oly. lifts).
What would you consider the 3 most important
tips for High School Vaulters?
1. Learn world class technique before trying to hold world
class grips. (I jump my first 17' holding 14' 8")
2. Train your butt off. Train like a sprinter.
3. Invest in a video camera. The video camera is the vaulter's
coach & the coach's coach.
4. Watch as much video of world class vaulters as you can
stand.
Additional
helpful comments for beginning vaulters:
Jump
4 to 5 days per week. Watch as much video of
world class vaulters as you can stand. If you train your brain how
to vault it will be that much easier for you to perform proper technique
while actually vaulting in practice.
