The 2002 Pole Vault Clinic at the World Junior Championships in Kingston, Jamaica.

In a coalition with N.A.C.A.C. and the IAAF Regional Development Center (San Juan) a Pole Vault Clinic was held in Kingston, Jamaica. This clinic was initiated by Mr. Lenford Levy and Benn Fields in response to a need for greater Pole Vault knowledge in this region. The instructors: Tom Hays (University of Arizona), Sergey Bubka and Tom Williams (University of Oklahoma) addressed coaches from 14 different countries.

Tom Hays lead a highly successful clinic including lecture, demonstrations, video and pertinent discussion. It was proven with limited equipment and facilities, fundamental running mechanics, pole carry, plant, take-off and swing could effectively be achieved.

Sergey Bubka's participation, open dialogue, and encouragement of coaches was a special opportunity to hear his philosophy and passion for the event. As an IAAF Council member and through his Sergey Sports Club he will be on going force in Pole Vault development.

The seven hour clinic over 2 days was proven to be a very effective format.
